It's actually very easy to make biscuits from scratch, and that makes it more delicious and flavourful. These Southern Buttermilk Biscuits are not only homemade but also have a tender and flaky_texture. See how incredibly soft and light these biscuits become when coated with butter.
3.
2½ cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup cold butter thinly sliced 1 cup cold buttermilk
4.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add butter in smallish pieces.
5.
With your hands (or a pastry blender), combine the flour mixture and butter until the butter is pea-sized and the mixture is crumbly.
6.
Pour in milk and combine with a wooden spoon until well incorporated, taking care not to over-mix.
7.
Turn out onto a floured surface and roll out the dough to about ¾ inch thick.
8.
Cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter. Add each to an ungreased cookie sheet or iron skillet. Make sure that biscuits touch for higher rise during baking.
9.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until browned. Makes 7-9 biscuits that are 2½ to 3 inches across.
