The superstar who has been making history with his blockbuster films, is well-known for feeding people delicious home-cooked meals. But when it comes to comfort food, Prabhas turns to this fragrant and flavoursome royalla or prawn pulao recipe.

1 kilo prawns, deveined 500 grams basmati rice 6 dry red chillies ½ cup onion paste 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste 8-10 curry leaves 4 bay leaves 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 20 cashew nuts 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 2 tomatoes, diced 6 green chillies 2 teaspoons pulao masala 3-4 tablespoons vegetable oil Salt, to taste

Add the turmeric powder, salt and pulao masala to the prawns and sear them in a pan with some oil.

In a separate pan, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil and bloom the red chillies, cumin seeds and curry leaves.

Follow this up with the ginger-garlic paste and onion paste in quick succession and fry until the raw smell disappears completely.

Add the green chillies and tomatoes and cook until the mixture turns mushy, before seasoning with some salt and red chilli powder.

Heat some oil in a separate pan and fry the cashews until golden brown before toasting the grains of rice.

Pour in water just enough to cook the rice and add the tomato mixture to the rice, followed by the prawns. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Once it begins to simmer, lower the flame, cover the pan with a lid and cook for 30 minutes. Serve hot with a generous sprinkling of fresh coriander.
